Management Board Message

Peace and happiness are our birthrights, encompassing peace within ourselves, peace with our surroundings, and peace with the world. Yet, due to limited and fragmented identities, peace on Earth faces serious threats. In 1999, the United Nations General Assembly adopted an action program dedicated to fostering a culture of peace globally. This commitment to planetary peace was echoed in the UN’s Agenda 2030, which included the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The message is clear: what is sustainable fosters peace, and what is peaceful ensures sustainability. At the midpoint of this agenda, however, we find ourselves alarmingly off course. Today, one in eight people worldwide suffers from a mental disorder, and suicide is the second leading cause of death among those aged 15-29. The global defense budget is twice that of the global health budget, while the UN’s disarmament expenditure was a mere 0.039% of annual global military spending in 2013.The United Nations cannot achieve this mission alone; we must collectively contribute to creating a peaceful world within and around us.United Global Peace Foundation is a dedicated endeavour to elevate the consciousness of humanity, striving to accomplish through unity what force or legislation cannot. Peace is not merely the absence of conflict but the presence of joy, serenity, dignity, hope, and freedom within us. It is a state in which interpersonal relationships are grounded in love and equality, with an awareness of our responsibilities that, in turn, safeguards others’ rights. It is a world that celebrates diversity while denouncing division, where each action consciously contributes to peace within oneself, with the surrounding environment, and across the globe. We invite all those who wish to contribute to this noble mission of ensuring peace and happiness on our planet, leaving no one behind.

With hope and determination,

– Shakti Singh Rajawat
